People say the best place to visit in Oman is the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, the largest mosque in Oman. Building it required six years, seven months, an import of more than 300,000 tons of indian sandstone for the main building, many types of stone, glass, wood, and inside, a 21 tonne carpet containing 17,000,000 knots. As the name suggests, this building was comissioned by Sultan Qaboos bin said, who was ruling at the time that Oman's name was changed (more on this in the history of Oman). The sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque was finished in 2001, although is started all the way back in 1994. That really took a long time!
